Description

A set of 4 original 1950’s Tolix outdoor garden terrace chairs.  3 of the chairs are the rare model C armchairs which I don’t believe have been copied and Tolix don’t seem to be manufacturing anymore and 1 is a model A chair.  Also for sale is an early to mid century steel foldable garden table.

The chairs have been sandblasted, primed and spray painted in a hardwearing polyurethane satin finish paint ideal for outdoor use.
Model C chair £350 each, Model A £200, table £350. £1500 for the set.
1950’s Original French Tolix Model C Armchairs Tolix – Dining Chairs – Set Of 3 plus 1 Model A chair. In 1907 Frenchman Xavier Pauchard discovered that he could protect sheet metal from rusting by dipping it in molten zinc (galvanisation) and a few years later he set up his factory producing steel furniture. Tolix was the creator and founder of perhaps the most iconic cafe chair of all time, the Tolix model A. Created in 1927, the C Armchair’s design fully captures the Art Deco style of its period. This icon by Xavier Pauchard, furnished the luxurious ocean liner, “Le Normandie”. The C Armchair is recognizable thanks to the interplay of fine tubes welded conjointly to form the back and armrests.
